Continuous Level Measurement Using Capacitance Sensing Technology
The FlowDo Capacitance Level Transmitter is engineered for continuous liquid and bulk material level measurement in compatible industrial vessels. It accurately measures changes in electrical capacitance as process material rises or falls along the sensing probe and converts the signal into a calibrated 4–20 mA industrial process output.
Precision solid-state level monitoring engineered for industrial storage tanks and process vessels.
The FlowDo Capacitance Level Transmitter operates on the established electrical capacitance principle. In this sensing arrangement, the insulated or bare sensing rod acts as one plate of a capacitor, while the vessel wall (or a reference ground pipe) forms the opposing plate. The process medium acts as the dielectric insulator between them.
As the liquid level rises, it displaces the air or vapor phase with a medium of higher dielectric constant, increasing the total electrical capacitance linearly with height. High-frequency electronics convert this capacitance change into an isolated 4–20 mA DC current loop signal for remote SCADA, PLC, and indicator interfaces.

It measures changes in electrical capacitance associated with changing process level and converts them into continuous level information.
Yes. A transmitter provides continuous level information (0–100%), unlike a level switch that detects a single high or low point.
The sensing probe and vessel wall form an electrical capacitance circuit; electronics process capacitance variations as the medium rises or falls.
Capacitance measurement is influenced by the medium’s electrical properties, which should be considered during selection and calibration.
Compatible FlowDo configurations provide standard 4–20 mA process outputs suitable for direct PLC, DCS, and SCADA integration.
Suitability depends on the compatibility of the probe material, insulation (PTFE/PFA), and wetted components with the chemical medium.
Heavy coating can influence the electrical field around the probe; build-up prone applications should be reviewed during selection.
Capacitance, radar, ultrasonic, and hydrostatic each suit different media, tank geometries, conditions, and installation requirements.
